NOTARY PUBLIC

As a Texas Notary Public, we are Officers of the State and a Public Servant with statewide jurisdiction, authorized to notarize acknowledgments, jurats, verification, administer oaths, protest, take depositions, and certify copies of documents not recordable in the public records.  ​A notary requires the signer to be present for the notarization. The primary function of a Notary Public is to prevent fraud. We do this by requiring the physical presence of the signer, making a positive identification of the signer, and placing the signer under oath or affirmation, or taking the acknowledgment of the signer that the document was signed willingly.  The Notary Public serves as a third party with no personal interest in the transaction. 

A Notary Public may certify lease agreements, insurance forms, school forms, diplomas, personal documents such as letters, contracts, consent forms, and invoices.

A Notary Public may NOT certify military records, driver's licenses, official school records and transcripts, real estate documents such as deeds and mortgages, probated wills, marriage or divorce decrees, or birth and death certificates.

Notarization certificates consists of acknowledgment, jurat, verification, certified copy of a Notary's record, and a certified copy of a non-recordable document.  A Notary Public will NOT choose which certificate the signer may need if a notary certificate is not already apart of the document that requires notarization.  The signer will have to make that decision, or can seek legal counsel from an attorney.
